The Bible Tells Me So

This book like the others  in the "Studies in Abundant Living" series were originally individual studies. These studies were sold as individual studies in booklet form. This is Volume I in a series of four books. The book is divided into topics under which the studies are grouped:
Part I     Freedom From Bondage - Freedom from mental bondage.
Part II    What We Believe = What We Are - The law of believing.
Part III  Physical and Spiritual Wholeness - What God has provided for us.
Part IV  The Word in Our Minds - Biblical clarity on difficult subjects.

This book contains one chapter that is of special interest to me as it was written as an individual study by my mother in the early sixties. Dr. Wierwille often held out challenges to the believers to "make it your own." Some of the studies came from those challenges. Sometimes he would say that he had lost the documentation for some truth. Then someone would search the scriptures until that knowledge was regained and written for all the believers.
The chapter "When Judas Hanged Himself" was one of the challenges that Dr. Wierwille put forth in my mother's foundational class. She took it to heart that the answer had to be in the scriptures and spent months working the gospels with reference to holidays, harmony, events and anything that might put events in sequence. When she thought she had the answer, she wrote Dr. Wierwille a letter. Dr. Wierwille phoned her back and asked if she could come down to the International Headquarters the next Sunday. He would set aside some time in the afternoon to review her work.
The whole family was excited about the appointment but only I was old enough to attend the meeting with my parents. When the time came, we assembled in Dr. 's (as we affectionately called him) office with Dr. at his desk and my parents in chairs across the desk from him. Dr. opened the session with "Well, Mrs. Brown, what have you got?" At that point he sat with rapped attention as my mother related all the dead ends, false leads, things that would not lead to the answer. All the while Dr. just nodded silently. Then she presented her crown jewel, the piece that put it together, that bit of knowledge that set the subject to rest. He just stared at his Bible silently for what seemed to me to be a very long time then he eased back in his great office chair and announced "Mrs. Brown, I think you've done it! Can you write this up?" And now you know the whole story behind one "Study in Abundant Living" which is now contained in "The Blue Book."
Bless,
John Brown
